Fishing at Bass Lake, North Carolina
Fishing at Bass Lake is free and open to the public. During the summer, the lake is stocked with 1,500 pounds of catfish every month. Night crawlers and red worms are sold at the park concession stand for $3 (cash only). If you need a fishing pole, sign up for the Tackle Loaner Program to borrow equipment for free. People age 16 and older need a state inland fishing license, which costs $15 per year and can be purchased local stores including Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and The Tackle Box and online. Limits Catfish: no more than six per person per day with a minimum size of 12 inches. Bass: catch and release only. Sunfish and crappie: no limits.
